Overview of the treatment
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers
of muscles and connective tissue that surrounds the joints and the spine. Focussed sets of techniques
are used to release deep-seated tension and relieve postural in balance.
Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue)
to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
Ailments that can be treated by this therapy
Deep tissue massage is calming and energizing experience. It is especially helpful for stiff necks,
low back tightness, and sore shoulders. This treatment helps with following conditions: chronic
pain, limited mobility, recovery from injuries like whiplash, falls, repetitive strain injury such as
carpal tunnel syndrome, postural problems, Fibromyalgia, muscle tension or spasm.
How is the treatment done
During deep tissue massage some of the same strokes are used as in classic massage therapy,
but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.
A variety of methods like applying finger and thumb pressure, kneading with both palms are used.
Deep tissue massage can be tailored to personal needs.
